This month, we released our 2022 sustainability report: Drive to Zero. It highlights several milestones achieved across the company in 2022. Parklanders should be proud of how their company navigates responsible growth and makes progress toward its sustainability goals.

You know we've always been committed to providing our customers with choices regarding the fuels, essential convenience items, and quality food they need while ensuring we all contribute to a greener planet. So, let's dive into some of the highlights from our sustainability journey.

1) Leading the Charge on Low-Carbon Fuels

Thinking about ways to tackle climate change and lower our environmental impact while offering our customers choices at varying stages of their energy transition journeys can sound challenging. But we can make a difference with innovation, determination, and the best team in the business. We've been investing in renewable diesel and other low-carbon liquid fuels because they play a crucial role in decarbonizing the transportation sector.

We aim to reduce our customers' greenhouse gas emissions by up to one million tonnes of CO2 annually by 2026. And we're proudly well on our way to achieving this! We're already making a significant impact by co-processing innovative bio-feedstocks and blending ethanol and renewable diesel. By 2026, we expect to reduce emissions equivalent to taking a staggering 780,000 cars off the road!

And here's the best part—these blended and co-processed fuels can be used in existing vehicles without any modifications. So, our customers can keep driving as usual while helping the planet one mile at a time!

2) Turning By-Products into Renewable Fuel

One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, and we're all about turning waste into something extraordinary. Working with various British Columbia pulp mills and with some incredible funding support, we've harnessed tall oil (a forestry industry by-product) to manufacture renewable fuels. This displaces traditional crude oil and creates a high-value market for that forestry by-product. We're proud to be the only refinery in the world doing this without pre-processing. Way to go, team!

3) From Fuel to Food

Did you know we purchased M&M Food Market in 2022? Yep, that's right! We've stepped up our retail game and added some premium, restaurant-quality food choices. With over 2,700 M&M Express locations, Canadian customers have even more food options on the go or for a cozy meal at home. And we're not stopping there! The team has been working hard to make M&M a crucial part of our expansion plans, so you'll find deliciousness popping up at our ON the RUN convenience locations too! We expanded our On the Run convenience stores with 146 new sites 2022.

Our Sustainability Report is full of achievements we can all be proud of. Together, we're making a difference and helping our customers achieve their energy transition goals. It's an exciting journey, and we couldn't do it without all of you!
